Queer Women in Sports Day is celebrated on April 26 during Lesbian Visibility Week, highlighting the achievements, resilience, and increasing representation of queer, lesbian, and nonbinary athletes. Launched by The Curve Foundation, this day features nationwide events, panels, and celebrations focusing on inclusion and creating safe spaces for LGBTQ+ people in sports.
Some of our most notable lesbian athletes today are, (from Google sources),
Soccer: Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird (engaged); Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis; Marta; Pernille Harderand Magdalena Eriksson.
Basketball (WNBA): Diana Taurasi and Penny Taylor (married); Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner; Brittney Griner; Courtney Vandersloot and Allie Quigley.
Tennis: Billie Jean King, Martina Navratilova, and Amélie Mauresmo.
