Pioneering Pathways: Integrating LGBT Affirming Practices into Senior Living

Anti-discrimination legislation does not explicitly protect LGBTQ persons in many areas.  The 2019 US Congress has introduced the Equality Act of 2019 to address many of the issues where anti discrimination policies fall short. The Human Rights Campaign Foundation and SAGE are combining forces to execute an assessment of care facilities serving LGBT older adults. The LGBT Senior Housing and Care program has been working diligently for two and a half years to research and develop best practice in housing and care for LGBT seniors and their chosen and biological families.
