Wear It Purple Day, an international movement rooted in Australia to uplift and support LGBTQIA+ young people. Now entering its 16th year, the day centers on amplifying the stories and leadership of queer youth around the world.
What began in 2010 as a reaction to tragic bullying and youth suicide (notably the impact of Tyler Clementi’s story) now thrives as a global symbol of solidarity, resilience, and community for LGBTQIA+ youth. We are witnesses renewed debates over anti-LGBTQ laws the U.S. making it more vital than ever to ensure safe, visible spaces for queer youth.
At LGBT Senior Housing and Care, we celebrate connections across generations. We believe LGBTQIA+ seniors, with their lived histories of resilience and activism, can be invaluable mentors to younger people navigating identity, acceptance, and belonging. Our mission is to create affirming environments where elders and youth are both seen and heard—where intergenerational solidarity builds stronger futures.
✅ Take the Purple Pledge with us:
● Wear purple in solidarity with LGBTQIA+ youth
● Share stories of support, acceptance, and unity across generations
● Advocate for safe educational policies and community resources
Together, we can ensure bright futures for queer youth—and honor the voices that pave the way. 🌈
