New Jersey Considers Anti-discrimination Legislation for LGBTQIA Older Adults


New Jersey considers anti-discrimination legislation for LGBTQIA older adults in Long Term Care. Legislation S3484is pending in the NJ Senate and Assembly. The legislation establishes certain requirements concerning rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, queer, and intersex and HIV positive residents of long-term care facilities. Designed and advance by the New Jersey LGBTQ rights organization Garden State Equality, the New Jersey will join California in promoting LGBTQIA rights of older adults in care communities. LGBT Senior Housing and Care has been requested to give input on this important issue to serve this vulnerable group of our senior population. We are excited and proud of our State for its leadership to support LGBTQIA seniors. We will keep you posted on its progress.
