💜 Spirit Day — observed annually on the third Thursday in October — invites everyone to wear purple in solidarity with LGBTQ youth and to take a visible stand against bullying and harassment. GLAAD+1

Since its inception in 2010, Spirit Day has grown into a global movement led by GLAAD, encouraging individuals, schools, and businesses to pledge to “go purple” and publicly support queer youth. GLAAD+2GLAAD+2
In a time when anti-LGBTQ bills and educational censorship are on the rise in many states, standing visibly with young LGBTQ people matters more than ever. A simple act—wearing purple—can help signal safety, belonging, and hope to youth who feel isolated. iHeart+2GLAAD+2
At LGBT Senior Housing and Care, we believe in the power of intergenerational solidarity. Our elders—many of whom lived through eras of intense invisibility—carry stories of resilience, wisdom, and survival. On Spirit Day, we uplift their voices alongside youth: we commit to creating spaces where every generation knows they are seen, valued, and safe.
This Spirit Day, we encourage you to:
● Take the #SpiritDay Pledge to wear purple and stand against bullying GLAAD
● Share stories of LGBTQ elders who mentored younger generations
● Speak out when you witness harassment or exclusion
● Amplify youth voices in your community
Together, we can weave stronger bonds across generations and affirm that no one in our community should ever feel unseen. 🌈
