National Latinx HIV/AIDS Awareness Day - October 15th

📅 October 15 marks National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD) — a day to spotlight HIV’s disproportionate impact on Latinx/Hispanic communities and to mobilize around prevention, testing, treatment, and stigma reduction. HIV.gov+2HIVinfo+2

Though Latinx individuals make up ~19% of the U.S. population, they accounted for about 32% of new HIV diagnoses in 2022. HIVinfo+1 This disparity is compounded by barriers like healthcare access, language, stigma, and social determinants of health. AIDSVu+1

At LGBT Senior Housing and Care, we recognize that Latinx LGBTQ+ elders live at the intersection of multiple health inequities. That’s why we embed culturally competent HIV care in our mission—ensuring that aging with HIV does not mean aging alone.

On this NLAAD, let’s: • Promote “Start Treatment. Stick to It. Get Better.” — the 2024 NLAAD theme encouraging adherence to care HIVinfo • Advocate for multilingual, culturally responsive HIV services • Elevate Latinx elder stories in HIV education and care • Partner with Latinx community organizations to increase testing and support

Together, we can address HIV disparities with empathy, equity, and community power. #NLAAD #LatinxHIVAwareness #LGBTSeniorHousing #HIVEquity #EldersDeserveCare #StopHIVStigma
