October 5th - 11th

ree

is a dedicated time to reduce stigma, share resources, and strengthen community support for people and families affected by mental illness. NAMI+2NAMI+2

Mental health conditions touch many lives: about 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience a mental health diagnosis every year. NAMI+1 In our current era, with increased social pressures, political stress, and isolation, the need for connection and real support is more urgent than ever.

At LGBT Senior Housing and Care, we recognize that older LGBTQ+ adults often face unique mental health challenges—compounded by historic trauma, social isolation, and barriers to inclusive care. Our mission is to build affirming, supportive communities where mental health is part of holistic well-being, not an afterthought.

This Mental Illness Awareness Week, let’s:

• Elevate voices of LGBTQ+ elders who live with mental health conditions • Share stories and resources that counter isolation and stigma • Advocate for mental health services that respect queer identity, aging, and elderhood • Offer peer connection, listening, and community care as acts of resilience

Together, we can make mental health support visible—especially for those who’ve often been overlooked. Let’s hold space, speak up, and build more compassionate communities. 🌈
