🧡 International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (November 25 2025) marks a global call to action to end gender‑based violence in all its forms—from domestic abuse to online harassment, from intimate partner violence to femicide. According to the United Nations, an estimated 736 million women have experienced physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. United Nations+2pmnch.who.int+2
In recent events, the convergence of post‑pandemic recovery, humanitarian crises, and digital spaces has exposed new vulnerabilities. Technology‑facilitated gender‑based violence is rising, and funding for prevention remains far below what experts say is needed. pmnch.who.int+1
At LGBT Senior Housing and Care, we recognise that violence doesn’t only happen in youth or middle‑age—it persists across a lifetime. LGBTQ+ women and gender‑diverse individuals, including our senior residents, often face layered discrimination, social isolation, and barriers to accessing support. Our commitment is to create affirming, safe houses and communities where survivors are heard, supported, and empowered.
This day, let’s:
● Stand in solidarity by wearing orange and using #NoExcuse, the 2025 campaign theme. pmnch.who.int+1
● Advocate for trauma‑informed, inclusive support services for older women and gender‑diverse survivors
● Raise awareness about the intersection of age, gender identity, and violence—and ensure no one is left invisible
Together, we move from awareness to action—and build communities where everyone can age with dignity, safety, and belonging.
